Updates to the Kroc School Course Schedule

Dear Kroc Students,

This Friday October 2nd, you can start registering for your Intersession courses. Ahead of this, we are sharing updates to the Spring schedule, as they may affect what you register for in Intersession and Spring.

We have made the difficult decision of cancelling KROC 593 Field-based Practicum in Colombia. We are disappointed to not be able to offer this course. After reviewing current enrollment needs, we will not schedule a replacement local option in the Spring. Instead, we recommend the following:

MASI Students
If you plan on graduating this academic year and you have not yet satisfied your practicum requirement, you should enroll in one of the two local practicum options during Intersession:

  • KROC 524 Social Innovation Practicum (Choi-Fitzpatrick; Intersession) or
  • KROC 594 Social Innovation on the Border (Meade; Intersession).

MAPJ Students
MAPJ students who wish to satisfy their field-based course requirement this academic year should either enroll in:

  • KROC 524 Social Innovation Practicum (Choi-Fitzpatrick; Intersession), or
  • KROC 594 Social Innovation on the Border (Meade; Intersession), or
  • KROC 594 Peacebuilding Practicum: Fieldwork in Consulting & Project Management (Carpenter; Spring). This course is by application and the deadline to submit your application is October 16th. Pre-/Co-requisites for this course are KROC 510 Leadership and Organizations and KROC 513 Program Design, Monitoring and Evaluation (both of which are also offered in the Spring).

If the above options do not work for you, please let either Marissa Newman or Emily Keehn know and we will figure out solutions.

We are also adding an elective, KROC 594 Activists and Activism (Meade, Spring), and plan to add additional 1-unit options to the Spring schedule. These will be announced a little later.

Thank you for understanding and please write to us with any questions.
