Overview

Specifically designed for graduate students in peace, justice, and social innovation, Pursuing Purpose: Career Pathways in Peace, Justice and Social Innovation is a course that seeks to design and navigate students’ career paths with intention. Drawing upon design thinking principles, students will explore career opportunities within peace, justice, social innovation, and broader social impact fields, identify their unique strengths and passions, and create  personalized career plans to achieve their professional goals. The course will incorporate theoretical concepts, practical exercises, self-reflection, and workshopping to equip students with the necessary tools to make informed career decisions, build meaningful connections, and pursue fulfilling careers in peace, justice and social innovation. Students will be able to see career development as a lifelong process that requires ongoing reflection and intentional planning.

Platform and Materials

Pursuing Purpose will be using a shared Google drive, available to all current Kroc students, that will store the main templates for all activity materials, readings and links. The invitation to the shared drive will be sent to your sandiego.edu email address. The drive will contain the coursework template for which you will make a copy and save to your individual drive. The course materials and assignments will not be viewed or graded by Kroc faculty or staff. They are for your personal growth and reflection and will be used for your reference during the live workshop sessions or asynchronous discussion boards. We will also be using Google Jamboard for synchronous and asynchronous discussions. Please view this instruction video on how to use Jamboard by Thursday, September 7th.
