This new frame of reference and common compass for building lasting and legitimate peace is based on an extensive two-year global consultation process that collected and analyzed over 100,000 insights from across 61 countries.

The timing of the Principles for Peace could not be more relevant because globally we are currently facing one of the most conflict-ridden periods in modern history. The Principles for Peace brings together a coalition of 120 organizations across diplomatic, security, peacebuilding, and mediation actors. Its goal is to empower actors at all levels to create more durable and inclusive peace processes and enhance oversight and effectiveness for long-term peace outcomes. The Principles for Peace are supported by a range of Member States, spearheaded by Germany.
