The form in which something is written can change the message that it is trying to convey. Books made from TV series have different aspects than just books. A book made from a TV series has a specific time limit on what is written. The author needs to jump right into the plot because there is not much time to waste. If a TV show doesn’t introduce a plot straight away, many people will stop watching it. There also needs to be a specific plot that can be carried out throughout the series. There is not as much freedom given to TV programs as there are to just books. When an author is writing a book, they don’t have a time limit. They can make the message they are trying to convey as long or as short as they want. They also have more time to explain something. An author is able to use as many words as they wish to explain something.
Both Clark’s and Bronowski’s works are based off a TV series. They had to get straight to their point in the first episode in order to keep people interested in the show. They were able to travel many places in order to make their episodes, but they also did not have as much freedom as normal authors do. They were forced to cap their thoughts at specific lengths and needed to find ways to tie everything together.
Virginia Woolf wrote many novels. She was able to take as long as she wanted to write a novel. She was able to convey her message in as many words as she wanted. She was not restricted by a time limit or a viewer number. All she needed to do was set up a plot and explain it throughout her novel.
