“Always stay one step ahead of your enemies” has never been taken to a fuller extent than Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. He and his Medellin Cartel grew to be the largest cocaine corporation in the world during the late 80s-90s, pushing a culture so far and quickly that by the time he died, his net worth totaled up to $30 billion. In order to evade government authorities, Escobar bribed every cop and almost every person who he encountered, and in order to stay one step ahead of rival cartels, he tracked their every single move, allowing him to jump ahead of them in progress. His cartel, making around $4 billion a year, expanded to Mexico and the United States, when the cocaine epidemic was sweeping across the States. Even in his jail cell, Escobar figured out every move of every cartel opponent through his security team. Escobar shifted a side of culture that still creates problems today, including the Mexican cartel’s problems today, including the Mexican cartels closed to the U.S. border, all trying to reach the success of Pablo Escobar, who was cold blooded but a genius businessman.
