My name is Mariana Jones, but I prefer to be called Mari. I grew up in Concord, California in the Bay Area. I enjoy participating in the performing arts, and I currently plan to be a Theater Arts and Performance Major here at the University of San Diego, with a possible minor or double major in music. I come from a musical family; my two brothers and I have been performing for as long as I can remember. I focus on acting, singing, flute, piccolo, piano and guitar. Through this class, I hope to gain experience in writing different types of works, and advance my ability to write in different contexts. I want to not only be capable of writing a variety of pieces, but to do so well. I feel that this would help me apply my knowledge through writing across many situations, which is a valuable skill in approaching various college courses as well. Specifically, I hope that through practice of editing and discussing the literature and writing we do, I will be better suited to analyze and interpret sources in other classes.
Hi Mari,
I am also hoping that this class will allow me to expand my writing into different contexts and places. I especially agree with you that this is a very important skill for first year students who need to make a transition into writing at a high school level to a college level. Because of this I think this class will help us in our many other classes and throughout the next four years.
I also have two brothers! Are they older or younger than you? I find it very interesting that you can play all these instruments, I’ve always wanted to learn how to play the guitar and the piano but I’ve never had the chance.
