A blog post by MEd in Curriculum and Instruction Student Ambassador Lindsey Morgan
The following slideshow is of the MEd Curriculum and Instruction Global Studies Experience where I traveled to Belfast, Northern Ireland studying Educational Reform alongside MA in Leadership and MA in Counseling students.
We visited many different sites like the Stormont Estate where the Northern Irish Assembly is held and our program was able to interview members of Parliament.
We also were able to traverse Northern Ireland’s beautiful countryside, Giant’s Causeway, the segregated Protestant and Catholic neighborhoods and the Peace Wall.
I personally gained a better perspective on how The Troubles have and still do affect the Northern Irish education system and how I as a new teacher will be able to use what I’ve learned in my own teaching practice back home in the U.S.
Although Northern Ireland has its own set of problems, the people and culture were some of the most welcoming and heartwarming I’ve met, and Belfast will always have a special place in my heart!
