Microsoft Copilot AI Tool Available @ USD

Microsoft Copilor is now available at no cost to all USD faculty, students, and staff. It can assist with brainstorming, content refinement, image creation, and code generation.

Access it through any web browser or via the Copilot mobile app (iOS and Android). Copilot is similar to the paid version of ChatGPT but is more secure and protected because using Copilot with your USD credentials ensures adherence to our privacy and data security standards. To get started, learn how to use Copilot.

When utilizing a generative AI tool with sensitive USD data, we ask that you use Copilot rather than any other free or paid tool. Using Copilot with your USD credentials invokes Microsoft’s commercial data protection which means that Copilot doesn’t retain any data after the chat session is over. Nor does it use any organizational data to train its underlying model.

To learn about the pros and cons of using AI tools (potential uses, ethical considerations, and best practices), please watch a 10-minute learning module created by the USD Center for Digital Civil Society in collaboration with our Learning Design Center (LDC):

Important notice: students’ use of AI tools for academic work must be in compliance with the USD’s Academic Integrity policy and the syllabus policy as outlined by their instructor.
