Past(Active): I went to the mall yesterday.

Past(Passive): The mall was visited by me.

Present(Active): I am going to get groceries right now.

Present(Passive): Groceries are being bought by me.

  1. Sentences where the main verb is a form of “to be” (is, am, are, was, were, be, being, been, etc.) are neither active nor passive.
    past passive: The mall was visited yesterday by me.
    present passive: Groceries are being bought by me right new.
