Long Sentence [Osmond]

When Patrick Marleau, a former captain and ten year veteran with the San Jose Sharks, being drafted by them second overall in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, second to his former teammate, Joe Thornton, was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs, a team that desperately needs a veteran of the league to lead their younger players and has not won the Stanley Cup in fifty years, the longest current drought in NHL history, many Bay Area fans were disappointed to see him go because of the contributions he made to the Sharks program such as bringing them to their first Stanley Cup final in franchise history.
