Hi, I’m Luisa Macias. I am originally from Fairbury, Illinois, a very small town with only one stoplight. I moved to San Diego my freshman year of high school, which was a huge move for me. My hometown population was equivalent to the students at my new high school, 3,000.
I have an older sister who is 21-year-old, Adriana. Our family two years ago rescued 3 dogs, which are our entire life now. We have a bloodhound named Chopper, a white lab named Benny, and a boxer/shepherd/pit bull mix named Stella. I ride horses, English and Western style. I am not able to play sports such as volleyball, basketball, etc due to a neck/spine injury.
I spend most of my summer vacation in Mexico, including this past summer. Whenever I get the chance to travel, I automatically choose Mexico out of all the possible places. I have a lot of family members that live there, including my grandparents, aunts/uncles, and cousins on my dads side. I am very close to all of my family and hate being so far away from them.
I originally applied to USD just because it was close to home, but I was set that I’d be attending Seattle University. After being accepted and visiting Seattle, I did not see myself living in an environment like Seattle. Also, thinking about being far away from my family and my dogs was definitely going to be hard to adapt to. However, when I toured USD I fell in love with the campus and knew I would be attending here. I plan on majoring in Business Administration with a minor in Spanish and one day doing something with Human Resources. I am very happy with my decision and can not wait for this new chapter.
