Project TeamUP: 2025-2026 BHWET Cohort Applications NOW OPEN!

We are excited to announce that Project TeamUP’s HRSA grant (Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training Program for Professionals) has been officially funded for another four years!

As you may know, the Department of Counseling & Marital and Family Therapy (CMFT), in collaboration with the Hahn School of Nursing (HSON), has been awarded a Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training (BHWET) grant by the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) since 2017.

As a part of this grant, students completing their practicum/fieldwork/clinical experience during the 2025-26 academic year are eligible for a $25,000 stipend!

This project prioritizes serving children and adolescents (ages 0–17) and/or transitional-aged youth (ages 18–25). To be eligible for a stipend, students must serve approximately 50% or more of their direct clinical hours with one or both of these populations during their placement.

The application for the 2025-26 BHW stipend opportunity is now open and can be accessed here: https://bit.ly/ProjectTeamUP25-26. The application is due by 11:59 pm on Sunday, August 17th, 2025.

Please note: Selected applicants will be invited to participate in a virtual or in-person group interview. Group interviews will take place the week of August 25th–29th and cannot be rescheduled. Please plan accordingly and be sure to request permission from your site supervisor in advance if your practicum schedule may be impacted.

Lingering Questions? Please attend our Application Seminar held on Thursday, July 31, 2025 from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm via a Hybrid format. The application seminar will review the application process and offer space for Q&A.  Register Here: https://bit.ly/TeamUP25AS

The Application Seminar is specifically for practicum-placed students who will be in their training/final year in the 2025-26 academic year.

Are you starting your practicum/clinical experience during the 2026-27 academic year or later? You are eligible to apply for HRSA Project TeamUP stipend funding in the Spring before you begin your practicum/clinical experience (i.e., if you will start your practicum/clinical experience in the Summer of 2026, you are eligible to apply for HRSA Project TeamUP stipend funding in Spring 2026). Project TeamUP will host information sessions during the upcoming Fall semester in preparation for the 2026-27 application cycle. You are welcome and encouraged to attend our free training and professional development opportunities in the meantime!

If you have any questions or concerns regarding Project TeamUP or the BHW application, please contact the HRSA Project TeamUP Project Coordinator, Sydnie Szol (sszol@sandiego.edu).
