In groups, students investigate the rhetorical moves in an introduction to an academic journal article selected by the professor. Students collaboratively annotate their assigned paragraphs (looking for characteristics suggested by the professor) and prepare to report back what they found. This exercise prepares students for a task they do on their own as homework with a different academic journal article they select themselves.
