Research in my lab involves undergraduate and M.S. graduate students, research technicians, and guest high school students. We are an interdisciplinary group and projects may be wide-ranging, but have an ecological focus. Most of our research is conducted in coastal San Diego environments where we do field work in the rocky intertidal (at all times of the low tide- day and night), coastal ocean (within 1 km of the shore using small boats), and in an urban estuary (Mission Bay).
Currently, research projects primarily fall within two themes: (1) understanding biological and physical processes that influence larval transport in nearshore coastal environments, and (2) examining the population dynamics of non-indigenous (invasive) species.
