GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Jacobs Institute is looking for 1-2 unpaid Research Assistant Interns to work on collaborative research and development projects funded by federal agencies such as the National Science Foundation or Department of Education, educational agencies such school districts, or educational technology companies. The Research Assistant provides general research assistance and support to the Principal Investigator (PI) and/or the Project Managers on various projects within JI. Candidates who have taken one or more research courses are preferred. Additionally, candidates with experience in Pre-K-12 education, data analysis, or programming are also preferred. Candidates are expected to work 8-15 hours per week in FY21. Course credits for this position can be applied towards LEAD 598, 698, or 388 after approval from Dr. Leslie Boozer. This position also has the potential to turn into a paid research assistant position, based on project needs and performance.

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Assists the research team on assigned tasks, such as literature review, contacting school partners, data collection, data entry, and data cleaning etc.
  • Works with the project manager to maintain the data quality and confidentially
  • Adheres to ethical and confidentiality guidelines of both the university and IRB protocol.
  • Participates in training opportunities to develop research capacities.
