International Perspectives in Higher Education Access & Equity

Apply today! The department and the Global Center are excited to offer LEAD 568i- 
International Perspectives in Higher Education Access & Equity during intersession 2021. LEAD 568i, originally scheduled to travel to Brazil, will be offered online this year. The course will still fulfill the international requirement and students will receive the discounted tuition rate of $850 per unit. There are no other fees associated with this course.

The course takes an in-depth comparative examination of contemporary issues in higher education in Brazil & the U.S. and focuses on affirmative action policies in a historical, political, and legal context and the outcomes these policies have had for students and universities in addressing racial inequality. 

The course topics will include the historical roots of racial classification, tertiary education systems, government-sponsored higher education policies and programs, socio-economic status, student outcomes and the value of diversity in education. 
Students will travel virtually to Sao Paulo and Rio and learn about an array of universities — public, private, nonprofit and for-profit organizations with lectures from scholars and open forum discussions with senior leadership, faculty, administrators and students.
