Students enrolled in LEAD 572 will research, discuss and analyze the impact of providing leadership during the current pandemic. Should schools and businesses open? Topics includes themes such as: social and political changes to schools and businesses; the impact of technology and the digital divide; social uprisings and Black Lives Matter (BLM); and leading four-to-five generations in the workplace. These issues all impact how we lead our organizations in a rapidly changing world.

This course is organized around several complementary theories for leading social change during a global pandemic: schooling in a capitalist society, educational equity, generational effects, neighborhood effects, the digital divide, the Cynefin framework, and social justice. Through an in-depth examination of leadership theories traversing these frameworks and theories, we bring together strategies necessary for leaders to develop teams that work collaboratively to make tough decisions that requires action research, and high-level problem solving.
