Kate Yanina DeConinck, Th.D., is a teaching professor in the Department of Theology and Religious Studies at the University of San Diego. Trained as an anthropologist of religion, DeConinck is interested in the complexities of religious life as it is experienced by individuals and communities in the contemporary world. DeConinck’s own ethnographic research centers around religion and representation in the wake of mass tragedies such as 9/11.
Abdullah Alkhars graduated from the University of San Diego with a major in Industrial and Systems Engineering and a minor in Supply Chain Management. As the Student Technology Assistant initially associated with this project, he crafted the project’s website in 2018.
