What is the USD Health Survey?

The USD Health Survey is our campus’ implementation of the College Health Association’s National College Health Assessment (ACHA-NCHA II). The ACHA-National College Health Assessment (NCHA) is a nationally recognized research survey that assists our campus in collecting precise data about our students’ health habits, behaviors, and perceptions.

Why does the USD Health Survey matter?

The USD Health Survey contributes to the well-being of the entire USD student community by allowing us to enhance the responsiveness of wellness services available to students and to design health promotion programs for students at USD.

What does the USD Health Survey cover?

The USD Health Survey covers a wide range of health topics, including alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use, sexual health, weight, nutrition, and exercise, mental health, and personal safety and violence.

Some students may experience some personal discomfort with the content of certain questions.

For example, there are questions regarding illegal substance use and sexual behavior. If feelings or concerns do arise that make you feel uncomfortable as you complete this survey, you may call the USD Counseling Center at: 619-260- 4655, or the USD Center for Health and Wellness Promotion at: 619-260- 4618, to consult with a professional or to schedule a free appointment.

For after-hours or immediate help, you may call USD’s 24-hour dispatch at 619-260- 2222 to reach the on-call mental health provider. In addition, you may call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at: 1-800- 273-8255.

Is the USD Health Survey confidential?

USD only receives and reviews data in aggregate. We will never see individual responses. Your email address will be traced via the unique link you use to access the survey in order to allow us to draw prize winners. To ensure confidentiality, email addresses are destroyed by ACHA.

When will winners be notified?

Prize winners will be drawn throughout the month of November. The earlier you take the survey, the more chances you have to win. The first winner will be drawn within 24 hours of the survey launch and will be notified via email. All winners will be notified no later than December 2nd.

Thank you for Your Highlighting Health!
