Millenium Development Goals
The United Nations, offers an overview of the eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) – which range from halving extreme poverty to halting the spread of HIV/AIDS and providing universal primary education, all by the target date of 2015 – form a blueprint agreed to by all the world’s countries and all the world’s leading development institutions. They have galvanized unprecedented efforts to meet the needs of the world’s poorest.

FAO 2007: Programas de Superación de Pobreza en Perú
Perú es un país que posee gran cantidad de diversidad social, geográfica y cultural. En tierras peruanas viven un millón de personas en pobreza extrema y uno de cada cuatro niños, menores de cinco años, sufre de desnutrición crónica. Las causas son igual de múltiples: no hay saneamiento en el ambiente, tampoco poseen acceso a la salud y la calidad de agua no es la óptima, entre otras. Además esto, hay personas que no tienen regularizada su situación jurídica, lo que se traduce en que aun no son ciudadanos, por lo que no tienen acceso a créditos y ayudas del Estado peruano. Para solucionar esta situación, el Gobierno peruano creó el Programa Juntos, el cual tiene una visión en conjunto de todos los Ministerios y Programas de Asuntos Sociales. Las acciones van desde otorgarles 30 dólares para comprar animales y alimentos, tanto para producir como para alimentarse, hasta darles acceso en educación y regularizar su situación jurídica. Esta visión multisectorial, garantiza no sólo sacar de la desnutrición a aquellos que la padecen, sino que también las incorpora al proceso productivo. UNICEF: Stability through education for Pakistan’s Children
As of 27 May 2009, more than 2.5 million people have been registered as displaced by the current conflict in northern Pakistan. While nearly 200,000 are staying in government-run camps, the large majority, around 2.3 million, are with increasingly over-burdened relatives and friends and in makeshift shelters in schools and other government buildings. The majority of those who have been displaced by the conflict are women and children and these events have left their mark. Many of these children have been heavily traumatized by their experiences and all of them have had their lives seriously disrupted. 2 mins.
