Make sure the line between \u201cwork time\u201d and \u201cyou time\u201d is as distinct as possible. <\/li><li><strong>Don\u2019t forget to eat! <\/strong>Schedule it in. <ol><li>Hourly employees must take lunch before the 5-hour mark. <\/li><\/ol><\/li><li><strong>Overcommunicate with your team!<\/strong> It\u2019s easy to forget that you\u2019re all experiencing work differently because you\u2019re not in the same physical space. <\/li><li><strong>Before you join a video call, check yourself, and your surroundings.<\/strong><ol><li>Beware of open windows\/doors that might be noisy. Beware of bright windows behind you that can completely shadow your face, etc.\u00a0 <\/li><\/ol><\/li><li>When joining or leading a virtual meeting, <strong>always mute when you are not speaking<\/strong>. <ol><li>Even if you are not speaking, people can hear you type and it can be distracting. <\/li><li>Always remember to also close out all meetings that you are a participant in. It can be easy to leave meetings open for longer than desired. <\/li><\/ol><\/li><li><strong>Follow your normal morning routine as closely as possible. <\/strong>Wake up, take a shower, eat breakfast, etc. Staying in a \u201cnormal\u201d rhythm can get you in the mindset for work.<\/li><li><strong>Don\u2019t work from your bed<\/strong>. At the very least use a table (if a desk is not available). <\/li><li><strong>Wear a work shirt<\/strong> (pj pants don\u2019t matter as much &#x1f600;). <\/li><li><strong>Get up and stretch<\/strong>! Without a little encouragement, it\u2019s easier to stay seated.<ol><li>Leave your computer, stretch, and walk around.<\/li><\/ol><\/li><li>\u00a0<strong>Reach out when you need help<\/strong>. You can\u2019t count on someone noticing that you are struggling with something, or someone hearing audible sighs. <ol><li>You are not alone during this time. <\/li><\/ol><\/li><li>\u00a0Emails, texts, chats, and <strong>most written virtual communication does not translate<\/strong> as well as a quick in-person conversation. <ol><li>Err on the side of generosity\/assuming the best in others when interpreting written communications. When in doubt, ask!<\/li><li>Make sure your tone isn\u2019t being misinterpreted or misread. <\/li><\/ol><\/li><li>Your health is our top priority!<ol><li>If you are feeling ill, please take precautions and seek medical advice.
