  1. Create normal daily in-person interactions<\/strong> we might be used to via chat, or virtual tools.
    1. \u201cGood morning!\u201d, \u201cHow is your day going?\u201d, \u201cHave a great night\u201d, etc.<\/li>
    2. Work breaks are normal and encouraged.<\/li><\/ol><\/li>
    3. Follow and respect your normal work hours<\/strong>. Make sure the line between \u201cwork time\u201d and \u201cyou time\u201d is as distinct as possible. <\/li>
    4. Don\u2019t forget to eat! <\/strong>Schedule it in.
      1. Hourly employees must take lunch before the 5-hour mark. <\/li><\/ol><\/li>
      2. Overcommunicate with your team!<\/strong> It\u2019s easy to forget that you\u2019re all experiencing work differently because you\u2019re not in the same physical space. <\/li>
      3. Before you join a video call, check yourself, and your surroundings.<\/strong>
        1. Beware of open windows\/doors that might be noisy. Beware of bright windows behind you that can completely shadow your face, etc.\u00a0 <\/li><\/ol><\/li>
        2. When joining or leading a virtual meeting, always mute when you are not speaking<\/strong>.
          1. Even if you are not speaking, people can hear you type and it can be distracting. <\/li>
          2. Always remember to also close out all meetings that you are a participant in. It can be easy to leave meetings open for longer than desired. <\/li><\/ol><\/li>
          3. Follow your normal morning routine as closely as possible. <\/strong>Wake up, take a shower, eat breakfast, etc. Staying in a \u201cnormal\u201d rhythm can get you in the mindset for work.<\/li>
          4. Don\u2019t work from your bed<\/strong>. At the very least use a table (if a desk is not available). <\/li>
          5. Wear a work shirt<\/strong> (pj pants don\u2019t matter as much 😀). <\/li>
          6. Get up and stretch<\/strong>! Without a little encouragement, it\u2019s easier to stay seated.
            1. Leave your computer, stretch, and walk around.<\/li><\/ol><\/li>
            2. \u00a0Reach out when you need help<\/strong>. You can\u2019t count on someone noticing that you are struggling with something, or someone hearing audible sighs.
              1. You are not alone during this time. <\/li><\/ol><\/li>
              2. \u00a0Emails, texts, chats, and most written virtual communication does not translate<\/strong> as well as a quick in-person conversation.
                1. Err on the side of generosity\/assuming the best in others when interpreting written communications. When in doubt, ask!<\/li>
                2. Make sure your tone isn\u2019t being misinterpreted or misread. <\/li><\/ol><\/li>
                3. Your health is our top priority!
                  1. If you are feeling ill, please take precautions and seek medical advice. Please also let your Director know. \u00a0<\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                    1. Google <\/strong>
                      1. Let folks know you are available in google chat:
                        \"\"<\/li>
                      2. Use hangouts.google.com <\/strong>as a place to manage chat messages. <\/li>
                      3. Create names for frequently used groups in google as a shortcut.
                        \"\"<\/li><\/ol><\/li>
                      4. Zoom\/Google Hangouts
                        1. Convert all existing meetings to zoom\/google hangouts. <\/li>
                        2. Use your camera when possible.\u00a0 <\/li><\/ol><\/li>
                        3. Google Phone Numbers
                          1. Create\/claim a google voice number via Voice.google.com to help protect your personal number.\u00a0 <\/li><\/ol><\/li>
                          2. Email Signature<\/strong>
                            1. Add a quick snippet message to your email signature letting individuals know that you are working remotely.<\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                              HR Expectations <\/p>\n\n\n\n

                              1. Staff\nmembers working remotely are responsible to:
                                1. Fulfill the\nexpectations agreed upon with their supervisor regarding the scope of their\nremote work assignment, such as:
                                  1. Duties and responsibilities<\/li><\/ol>
                                    1. Hours of\nwork (rest\/meal breaks, overtime, and other wage and hour requirements still\napply)<\/li><\/ol>
                                      1. Hours of\navailability to communicate regarding University business<\/li><\/ol>
                                        1. Communication\nof work assignments and personal needs, including reporting absences of work\ndue to injury, illness, or caring for a family member<\/li><\/ol>
                                          1. The use of\nUniversity equipment and materials.<\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol><\/li>
                                          2. Appropriately\ncomplete their timecard.<\/li>
                                          3. Lunch by hour 5 for hourly employees. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
