{"id":1803,"date":"2023-09-05T17:42:44","date_gmt":"2023-09-05T17:42:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.sandiego.edu\/sb-ols\/?page_id=1803"},"modified":"2023-09-05T17:42:45","modified_gmt":"2023-09-05T17:42:45","slug":"papercut-printing","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.sandiego.edu\/sb-ols\/papercut-printing\/","title":{"rendered":"PaperCut Printing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>ITS is pleased to announce that after several months of research, development, and testing, that&nbsp;<strong>Papercut is now available for the Knauss School of Busine<\/strong><strong>ss<\/strong>&nbsp;(as our first pilot school to try out PaperCut before we roll it out to the rest of the campus).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PaperCut helps you introduce easy printing from any device &#8211; all while&nbsp;protecting student information, cutting costs, and reducing waste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is PaperCut?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Papercut enables the existing Sharp Multifunction Printers (MFPs) to release print jobs with the tap of a Torrero ID card on Tap2Print MFPs. Faculty and staff can also print from personally owned devices to USD-owned printers via the Papercut app and webprint.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Papercut also provides the ability to implement print quotas and executive summaries of printing activities\/costs within KCBE.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lastly, Tap2Print functionality replaces the need for PIN codes on PIN-enabled MFPs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where can I use PaperCut?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Four Sharp MFPs in KCBE and OH have been enabled with Tap2Print functionality. Those Tap2Print and copy locations are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>KCBE 238 P1<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>OH 112 P1<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>OH 211 P1<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>OH&nbsp;332A&nbsp;P1<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do I use PaperCut Tap2Print?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When you print to or copy\/scan from one of the four listed Tap2Print-enabled MFPs, you will be greeted with the option to provide your USDone credentials or tap your Torrero ID card on the<strong><u>&nbsp;\u201cTap here\u201d&nbsp;<\/u><\/strong>sticker.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If this is your first time using Tap2Print at any MFP, you will be asked to enter your USDone credentials via the&nbsp;<strong>on-screen or pull-out keyboard<\/strong>. Once your credentials are authenticated,&nbsp;you will be asked to scan your card again and&nbsp;simply either select the print jobs you want to print or tap the&nbsp;<strong>\u201cPrint all jobs<\/strong>\u201d button and your print jobs will be released immediately.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do I connect my computer to a printer via PaperCut?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All USD-managed computers (except for classrooms and computer labs) will have the Papercut made available to them. For MacOS users, you may install the Papercut client via<strong>&nbsp;Mac@USD<\/strong>. Windows clients will have the papercut client pushed to them by&nbsp;Friday 9\/1.<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To request that your computer be mapped to the printer via Papercut, please email&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:help@sandiego.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">help@sandiego.edu<\/a>&nbsp;or contact the ITS Helpdesk at&nbsp;619-260-7900&nbsp;to have the printers you need access to, made available in Papercut.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: Do keep in mind that printer mappings that existed prior to the Papercut rollout are unaffected.
