We are a research group at the University of San Diego that specializes in investigating the intersection between the environment and human health. This planetary health approach includes using geochemical tools, like analysis of arsenic in drinking water or manganese in synthetic lung fluid, to determine risks posed to public health.<\/p>\n
My name is Beth O’Shea and I’m a Professor in the Environmental and Ocean Sciences department at USD. My background is environmental geochemistry and public health. As a first generation female in STEM I welcome and encourage collaborations and student researchers that respect our natural world and the dignity of all people who live in it.<\/p>\n
