Federal Law Research

Employers will be impressed when you do federal case research online for free or minimal cost rather than racking up high Wexis costs.  Try PACER, Public Access to Court Electronic Records, an electronic public access service provided by the federal judiciary that allows users to obtain case and docket information from federal appellate, district and bankruptcy courts. You do need to register for a free account, and if you're a heavy user you'll have to pay the sum of 8 cents per page. However, they recently modified their policies so that if you accrue less than $10 in charges in a quarter, all charges are waived.
