Interchurch Organizations

Association for Interchurch Families (AIF) (http://www.interchurchfamilies.org) is an international organization devoted to interchurch families. This site contains numerous resources for couples, including an electronic version of its journal, Interchurch Families. You can also join a listserve for individuals interested in discussing interchurch issues. The AIF website also lists chapters or contacts for several different countries. National Organizations for Mental Health Professionals

American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy is the national organization for marriage and family therapists. The site includes TherapistLocator.net, which allows an individual to search for a family therapist in one’s local area.

American Association of Pastoral Counselors is the national organization for Pastoral Counselors. The site allows an individual to search for a pastoral counselor or service center in one’s area.

American Counseling Association is the national organization for professional counselors. The site lists strategies for locating a counselor. It also includes a link to the National Board of Certified Counselors, which can be used to locate a certified counselor in one’s area.

American Psychiatric Association is the national association for psychiatrists. Referrals for psychiatrists can be obtained through the local district branch of the American Psychiatric Association, community mental health centers, medical schools, or local medical society.

American Psychological Association is the national association for psychologists. Call 1-800-964-2000 for a referral to a psychologist in your area. The operator will use your zip code to locate and connect you with the referral system in your area.

National Association for Social Workers is the national organization for social workers. The site allows an individual to search for a social worker in one’s area.
