Accommodations

We have reserved blocks of rooms at two nearby hotels as well as apartment-style accommodations on the USD campus. ICAIL will provide transportation to and from the conference from all three locations at no additional charge. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE DEADLINE TO RESERVE THESE ROOMS AT CONFERENCE RATES IS MAY 7 (HACIENDA HOTEL) AND MAY 15 (DANA HOTEL and USD DORMS). After that time, you may have to book at another hotel or at a higher price.

There are many other hotels in the San Diego area, many of which are less than 20 minutes from USD by car. We do not recommend booking alternate locations (except those located in Old Town near the bus depot) unless you have or rent a car, plan to bike, or take a taxi (or similar service) to and from the conference. Public transportation (from locations other than Old Town) can often take a significant amount of time. (If you do rent a car, there will be ample free parking at the conference. See Transportation.)

[To register for the Hacienda, please go to their reservation web page, and enter the following codes: Group code: ICAIL2015; Password: USDICAIL.]

USD offers many dining options for those who stay on campus. There is a main cafeteria that serves all meals as well as several campus restaurants and eateries that serve lunch and dinner, including the renowned La Gran Terraza with a view of Mission Bay and the Pacific Ocean. There is also a small grocery store with sufficient produce and other groceries for any meal. Within a mile from campus are many additional restaurants and convenience stores. Very large grocery stores are approximately 3 miles from campus in Point Loma and can be reached by taxi (about $10-15 each way) or by public transportation.
