Over time, the evolution of music and dance in Mexico has been the most powerful way of displaying Mexican pride and culture. The traditional folk dance, known as <em>Baile Folklorico<\/em>, originates in the roots of Mexico; it is derived from the dances of the Aztec people, which pertained to religious practices. Dances have been passed on through generations, and although influenced by modern times, still closely resemble the original techniques, costumes, and music. The many different regions of Mexico are represented through dance and music, as each state has its own style and history. Jalisco, Nayarit, and Veracruz are three states in Mexico which are commonly recognized in performances by their different costumes, footwork, and musical instrumentation. While mariachi bands are most often associated with Mexican music, the traditional accompaniment in historic Mexico was more percussive, and has since evolved to include the guitars, violins, and trumpets of the Mariachi representing Mexico today. People fail to recognize the beauty and diversity of Mexican musical culture. There is not only the Mariachi band and the girls with the colorful dresses; every state in Mexico has a distinct and unique history that is reflected in the music and dance of the state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mexico has been a place of strong culture and traditions for centuries.
