In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus is being crucified and he is “sneered” at by the rulers, “jeered” at by the soldiers, and “reviled” by one of the criminals being crucified with him. But he only responds to the other criminal who, instead of insulting him, asks for mercy with the words:<\/p>\n

“Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom<\/strong>”\u00a0and Jesus replies,\u00a0“Amen, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise<\/strong>“<\/em><\/p>\n

Remembering Our Deceased Loved One<\/h3>\n

On Saturday, November 8, eight students participated in part three of a three-part hybrid retreat taking time to spend time with our deceased relatives and friends. One of the student participants shared that it was an experience she would have not thought of and was thankful that the student leaders put this together. November is a month where we remember those with whom we had a meaningful relationship with.<\/p>\n

Spring 2026 Registration<\/h3>\n

Registration for the Spring 2026 semester is now open.\u00a0If you have not met with your academic advisor, please do so as soon as possible<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies will be offering a Spring 2026 course entitled Religion, Conflict, and Peace: Examining Religion’s Dual Role in Fueling Violence and Fostering Peace on Thursday afternoons. The course will explore different frames through which religion can be viewed and treated\u2014religious literacy, pluralism, secularism, and religion as an evolving system of knowledge and practice. The course examines intersections between religion, science, politics, development, and civilization-building in studying its role in conflict and peace.<\/p>\n

Discuss this with your advisor and consult Oliver Mamangun if you wish to enroll in this class.<\/p>\n

Every Tuesday,\u00a0We See You San Diego<\/strong>\u00a0hosts a dinner and distribution of clothing and health\/hygiene products for the homeless community at Immaculate Conception Parish Hall in Old Town San Diego – Volunteers are needed to set up, serve dinner or clean up between\u00a03:00pm\u00a0and\u00a09:00pm. Your participation is welcome.\u00a0November 18\u00a0will be the next opportunity to serve.\u00a0This will be the third Tuesday of the month, a day that some FST students and staff have committed to volunteer. The Office of Life and Human Dignity at the McGrath Institute of Church Life at University of Notre Dame is now accepting applications for the\u00a02026 Teaching Life and Human Dignity Symposium<\/a>. The Symposium will be held on their beautiful campus in South Bend, Indiana,\u00a0June 21-26. This week-long experience is designed to help teachers and administrators integrate the Catholic faith across the subject areas and school culture through the lens of human dignity.<\/p>\n
