The “Transitus of St. Francis” commemorates the passing of St. Francis of Assisi from this life to eternal life with God. Celebrated on the evening of October 3rd, the vigil of his feast day, it is a solemn not mournful observance, reflecting Francis’ view of death as a joyful passage to God.
This year also marks the 800th anniversary of Francis’ Canticle of the Creatures. This Friday, October 3, we will celebrate both moments in the life of St. Francis at Immaculate Conception Church at 2540 San Diego Ave in Old Town San Diego at 7:00pm.
Our next FST liturgy and community meal will be on Wednesday, October 8 at 4:30pm in Founders Chapel.
