Essay Contest Information<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Essay Topic<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With a specific argument, consider a current social justice issue with direct relationship and connection to issues raised by the content and\/or context of $2.00 A Day: Living on Almost Nothing In America. As part of your argument, <em>$2.00 A Day\u00a0<\/em>should be discussed and cited directly. You may also cite outside sources, but it is <em>not <\/em>a requirement. Submissions may be individually or group authored.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Essay Rules<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Suggested essay length is around 1300 words (1500 words max).<\/li>\n<li>Entries due: <strong>March 22, 2019<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Entries will be judged by select faculty and administrators involved with <em>USD Just Read!<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Judging Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Essays that meet the Submission Requirement will be scored on the four criteria listed below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Significance: <\/strong>Identify and address a social justice issue that is of significant concern stemming from your reading of <em>$2.00 A Day.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Social Justice Principles: <\/strong>Explicitly identify the principles that are relevant and important to your considering at the issue(s).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Strength of Argument: <\/strong>Provide supportive evidence (e.g., personal narrative, scholarly sources) for your argument in a clear and organized manner<\/p>\n<p><strong>Connection to Book: <\/strong>Connect and integrate your argument with ideas from<em> $2.00 A Day<\/em> in a complex and deep manner.<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sandiego.edu\/cee\/documents\/for-student-essay-contest\/2.00-a-day-essay-rubric.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">View the Full Grading Rubric<\/a><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Prizes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1<sup>st<\/sup> Place $400<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>2<sup>nd<\/sup> Place $200<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>3<sup>rd<\/sup> Place $100<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Winning essays will be featured on the CEE\u00a0website and in USD publications.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Submit Your Essay Here *Deadline for submissions is March 22, 2019. 2018-2019 Just Read!
