When we announced in early May our Torero BluePrint Six-Point Plan for Fall 2020, it was our intention to begin the semester with in-person instruction as part of our overall hybrid academic model. Over the past two months, hundreds of members of our campus community have been working diligently on our plans to return on August 17.<\/h4>\n

Since that announcement, the number of daily cases of COVID-19 in San Diego County has surged, and San Diego is now averaging more than 400 cases per day.<\/h4>\n

Due to the continuing progression of COVID-19 and the number of confirmed cases in California and San Diego, neither the State of California nor\u00a0San Diego County<\/a>\u00a0has issued new guidance for institutions of higher education to institute in-person learning this fall. Therefore, until we receive further notice,\u00a0all undergraduate and graduate courses will be delivered in a remote learning format<\/strong>.\u00a0We will continue to move ahead with our fall semester start date of\u00a0August 17\u00a0for undergraduate students.\u00a0 Graduate schools will continue to follow their respective academic calendars.<\/h4>\n

We will begin the semester with remote instruction, but will be prepared to pivot back to our hybrid model. The timing for a transition to our hybrid approach will be determined by future guidance from State and County officials. When we have that permission, we will pivot and continue\u00a0to offer our students the options for remote or in-person instruction \u2014\u00a0 whichever approach they believe is in their best interest. We will keep in close, weekly contact with State and County officials to monitor progress toward guidance that allows for in-person instruction.<\/h4>\n
