WES counselors work with students to develop social\/emotional well-being, including social skills, problem-solving, emotional regulation, coping skills, and navigating challenges at home and at school. Counselors collaborate with families, teachers, administrators, and outside mental health professionals to meet each student\u2019s needs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Student Support<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop and implement a social-emotional curriculum for grades PK-3 &#8211; Grade 3.<\/li>\n<li>Observe and assess students\u2019 social-emotional functioning to establish goals and objectives for support and progress. Respond with appropriate intervention strategies to meet the needs of the individual, group, or school community before, during, and after school.<\/li>\n<li>Through small group and individual counseling, provide ongoing student support, particularly during times of transition, heightened stress, critical change, or other situations impeding student success.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate knowledge and respect of differences in customs, communications, traditions, values, and other traits among students based on race, religion, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical or intellectual ability, and other factors.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain accurate and complete records and confidential student files.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Teacher Support\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Collaborate as an active leader of the Student Support Team.<\/li>\n<li>Meet regularly with teams of teachers and administrators to discuss and share student social\/emotional and wellness needs and accommodations, as well as strategies for effective support.<\/li>\n<li>Assist teachers with collecting and interpreting assessments (observations, anecdotal notes, real-time conversations, etc.) to determine student progress and the effectiveness of interventions and strategies.<\/li>\n<li>Oversee related referrals, coordination, and review of evaluation reports; develop summaries for teachers from external evaluations if appropriate.<\/li>\n<li>Serve on the Admission Committee to screen and review all candidates.<\/li>\n<li>Provide professional development and consultation to faculty regarding child development, student health and wellness support, and positive growth and learning at various age levels.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Parent Support<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Serve as the point of contact for families of students with social-emotional challenges.<\/li>\n<li>Actively develop strong relationships with families and serve as a guide and support; maintain regular communication with parents.<\/li>\n<li>Provide referrals and summarize findings from evaluations.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate and participate in parent conferences as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Provide parent-related support services, resources, and coaching.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Compensation and Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Salary range:\u00a0 $65,000 &#8211; 95,000<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Excellent health insurance<\/li>\n<li>The TIAA-CREF retirement annuity, up to 7.5% employer contribution<\/li>\n<li>Funding for professional development<\/li>\n<li>60% tuition remission for the children of faculty and staff, plus additional need-based aid as applicable<\/li>\n<li>Complimentary Extended Day for the children of faculty and staff<\/li>\n<li>50-100% tuition remission for Summer@WES for the children of faculty and staff<\/li>\n<li>9 days of PTO, plus an additional three weeks of summer leave for 12-month employees<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Regrettably, we are unable to sponsor visa applications at this time.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Please use<a href=\"https:\/\/workforcenow.adp.com\/mascsr\/default\/mdf\/recruitment\/recruitment.html?cid=0c2f3c9d-c117-4895-805d-28bd6884ee0f&amp;ccId=19000101_000001&amp;jobId=577088&amp;source=CC2&amp;lang=en_US\"> this link<\/a> to apply: https:\/\/workforcenow.adp.com\/mascsr\/default\/mdf\/recruitment\/recruitment.html?cid=0c2f3c9d-c117-4895-805d-28bd6884ee0f&amp;ccId=19000101_000001&amp;jobId=577088&amp;source=CC2&amp;lang=en_US<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Washington Episcopal School (WES) in Bethesda, Maryland, is seeking an Early Childhood\/Elementary Division Counselor.
