Film Screening: Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring

Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring movie was released Jan 29, 2008 by the WGBH Boston studio. Witness the story of how the passionate biologist and environmentalist, Rachel Carson, exposed the effects of the unregulated use of pesticides and herbicides by the federal government when she published her controversial work, Silent Spring, in 1962.

This production from PBS’s “The American Experience” offers a presentation of marine biologist/zoologist Rachel Carson’s poetic and seminal work “Silent Spring” which decried the use of DDT and which would become the keystone of the ecological and environmental movements.
