Examination of the role gender plays in our everyday lives at a local, national and global level continues to be relevant. Disciplines such as women’s and gender studies offer students and others an opportunity to explore and study the unique contributions of women and men to society, science, humanities, and the arts and the impact that gender and gender roles play in a variety of social and historical contexts. Women’s and Gender Studies Programs are committed to realizing the equality of women and men in all areas of life so that our relationships, both personal and social, are characterized by the freedom and mutuality which can only occur among equals. Come join us for what promises to be an evening of thoughtful discussion on the importance of gender in our society and at USD. Scholars and students will discuss their perspective on the role gender plays within their disciplines and throughout our lives.

Moderator: Lori Watson, Associate Professor of Philosophy and Director of the Gender and Women’s Studies Program at USD

Panelists include Dr. Bevlee Watford, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Director of the Center for Enhancement of Engineering Diversity at Virginia Tech, Dr. Mary Doak, Associate Professor of Theology and Religious Studies, Dr. Bradley Bond, Assistant Professor in Communication Studies, Stacey Williams, Graduate Student in SOLES and Graduate Assistant at the Women’s Center, Kelly Longeran and Leanne Falzon, both USD Undergraduate students
