Title: Open Forum: Imagining the Core – Integrating Diversity into the Core
Location: UC 107
Link out: Click here
Description: The study of diversity at USD entails grounding stories of difference within their historical contexts and understanding their implications for contemporary lived experiences. Over the course of their undergraduate years, the core curriculum should help students develop a critical and reflective knowledge and understanding that affirms, challenges and amplifies personal and social identities. Please join us for this important forum, where we will discuss how best to integrate diversity within the core, enabling our students to achieve such goals as becoming self-aware, the ability to recognize and respect difference, and to ultimately have our students leave USD with the ability to conceptualize and articulate the complexities of difference. In this session we will examine our proposed definition of diversity, proposed learning outcomes, and examples of cluster courses that foster student learning on diversity topics.
