ILORI WORLD

ILORI Children

La Carpio is Costa Rica’s biggest informal settlement; over 30,000 people -Costa Ricans and Nicaraguans- live in underprivileged conditions. Children make up 42% of Carpio’s population and they are particularly vulnerable, with no real access to an integral education that would allow them to fully develop their academic, social, and emotional competences.

Research shows that we get to know the world through our senses, and that a higher quality and quantity of stimuli allow us to develop our critical thinking, regulate our emotions, and thus helping us become more successful adults. Help us build a playground for optimal sensory development for the children at La Carpio, Costa Rica’s largest informal settlement. The total investment is $20,000, we are missing the last $5,000!

In 2012, ILORI founded a holistic program that accompanies children in the development of their academic, social, physical and psychological skills. ILORI built a beautiful 6,600 square feet building where we have classrooms, a computer lab, and a small stage. Even though this building has served our initial purpose well, there is a need to provide the children with safe open spaces that will contribute to their sensory development and relationship with nature.

Help us build a playground for optimal sensory development for the children at La Carpio, Costa Rica’s largest informal settlement. The total investment is $20,000, we are missing the last $5,000!
