What is Global Mindset and Why Does it Matter?

This presentation by Mansour Javidan, Garvin Distinguished Professor and Director of the Najafi Global Mindset Institute, Thunderbird School of Global Management, will cover the concept of Global Mindset, what it is, how it can be measured, and in what way it helps managers and corporations in global environments. He will share his experiences with hundreds of managers and executives in a variety of global corporations in the U.S. and other countries in terms of the challenges they face and steps they take to measure and develop the stock of Global Mindset in their organizations.

Dr. Javidan is a multiple award-winning executive educator and author who recently stepped down as Dean of Research and is currently the Garvin Distinguished Professor and Director of Najafi Global Mindset Institute at Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona. His latest book on Global Mindset was published in July, 2013. He is the Past President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the world-renowned research project on national culture and leadership, titled GLOBE (Global Leadership and Organizational Behavior Effectiveness) and co-editor of the 2004 and 2013 GLOBE books, respectively, which won the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology’s (SIOP) M. Scott Myers Award for Applied Research in The Workplace. Dr. Javidan has been designated an Expert Advisor (Global Leadership) by the World Bank and a Senior Research Fellow by the U.S. Army.  He is the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the International Leadership Association.  He has designed and taught a variety of executive development courses, offered and facilitated workshops, conducted consulting projects, and made presentations in 28 countries. His publications have appeared in such journals as Harvard Business Review, Journal of International Business Studies, Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Perspectives, Leadership Quarterly, Management International Review, Organizational Dynamics, Journal of Applied Behavioral Sciences, Human Relations, Journal of World Business, and Journal of Organizational Change Management.
