What is the USD Health Survey?
The USD Health Survey is our campus’ implementation of the College Health Association’s National College Health Assessment (ACHA-NCHA II). The ACHA-National College Health Assessment (NCHA) is a nationally recognized research survey that assists our campus in collecting precise data about our students’ health habits, behaviors, and perceptions.
Why does the USD Health Survey matter?
The USD Health Survey contributes to the well-being of the entire USD student community by allowing us to enhance the responsiveness of wellness services available to students and to design health promotion programs for students at USD.
What does the USD Health Survey cover?
The USD Health Survey covers a wide range of health topics, including alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use; sexual health; weight, nutrition, and exercise; mental health; and personal safety and violence.
Some students may experience some personal discomfort with the content of certain questions.
For example, there are questions regarding illegal substance use and sexual behavior. If feelings or concerns do arise that make you feel uncomfortable as you complete this survey, you may call the USD Counseling Center at: 619-260- 4655, or the USD Center for Health and Wellness Promotion at: 619-260- 4618, to consult with a professional or to schedule a free appointment.
For after-hours or immediate help, you may call USD’s 24-hour dispatch at 619-260- 2222 to reach the on-call mental health provider. In addition, you may call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at: 1-800- 273-8255.
Is the USD Health Survey confidential?
Your e-mail address will be traced via a unique link you use to access the survey. To ensure confidentiality, e-mail addresses are destroyed by ACHA data are compiled and shared with USD. USD only receives and views data in aggregate, we will never see individual responses.
When will winners be notified?
Prize winners will be drawn the week of November 28th and will notified via e-mail by December 2nd.
