Green Move-In and Move-Out
Thank you to all who participated to make the 2013 Green Move-In and Move-Out a success! Together we diverted over 300,000 pounds of reusable items from the landfill. There were over 100 student and parent visitors to the E-Waste Center to purchase the donated items. Help us to continue to make this program a success this coming spring.
USD strives to create a green move-in and move-out experience for all residents by reducing waste produced, reusing as many items as possible, and recycling all other materials. Through education and reuse programs we can all create an environmentally friendly move-in and move-out experience to help USD become a zero waste campus. View here to see how you can have a green move-in!
This past move-out, the Office of Sustainability worked with Residential Life to collect all reusable items from the dorm areas. Some items were donated to local non-profit organizations and the other items will be sold back to new and returning students in the fall. Categories of these items include dorm furniture (mirrors, bed risers, fans), shower caddies and other bathroom items, school supplies, room decorations and much more! All these items will be sold at heavily discounted prices at the USD E-Waste Collection Center located west of campus at 5330 Linda Vista Road. Stop by the E-Waste Center during move-in weekend to get your dorm supplies at a discount!
