Fight for Air Walk 2013

On Sunday November 10, 2012, USD participated in the annual Fight for Air 5k Walk sponsored by the American Lung Association. The American Lung Association is the leading organization working to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease. When you join the American Lung Association in the fight for healthy lungs and healthy air, you help save lives today and keep America healthy tomorrow.

The Fight for Air Walk is just one of the many ways in which the Office of Sustainability gives back to the greater community and world through the involvement of Paula Morreale and Michael Catanzaro on the Leadership Board Committee. This year Michael Catanzaro served as the co-chair on the Leadership Committee. This is the fourth year the Office of Sustainability participated in the walk.

USD had one of the largest teams at the walk with over 130 undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty and staff. Associated Students, Torero Program Board, the Be Blue Go Green Team, and other student organizations showed their support at the walk. USD was also able to raise over $3,500 through both individual and corporate donations. Over 75 people on the USD team took the trolley downtown to the walk at the Embarcadero Marina, saving over 1,820 pound of CO2. With such a successful day, the Office of Sustainability looks forward to planning and walking for this important cause next year!
