Pope Francis
This has been a historic week, with the election of the first pope from the Americas, and I want to join in with the many people who are expressing joy over the election of Pope Francis as the 266th pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church.
Msgr. Daniel Dillabough, Vice President for Mission and Ministry at USD, had these words to say in a message about the new pope to the USD campus and alumni community:
“With eager anticipation and great hope we pray for him, as he asked in his first words as Holy Father, that he will be given the grace to lead with wisdom and courage, with compassion and understanding, humility and inspiration, to guide the church and to witness to all those who aspire to a world of peace and prosperity for all humankind in these challenging times.”
