Diego Torero helps Prof. Mike Lawless and Dean Pyke spread the word about the USD V2 competition
Pitch your idea at the USD Venture Vetting (V2) competition and you could win up to $25,000 in prize money from angel investors.
I even had a photo-shoot with USD mascot, Diego Torero, this week to make sure all of our students know that this is a campus-wide entrepreneurship event. Great new business ideas can come from USD undergraduate or graduate students in any major.
The most important elements for the competition are a great idea and a great pitch. You can get help with both next week, on March 5th at USD. Professor Mike Lawless and several San Diego entrepreneurs will provide pitch deck coaching, networking and advice from experts. After this coaching opportunity, pitch decks are due March 14th.

The final V2 competition will be held at USD on April 18th, with four finalists competing for a share of the $25,000 prize money to be awarded by a panel of angel investors. And, we’ll be welcoming USD alum, Tom Breitling, to tell the story of his highly successful entrepreneurial ventures.
At last year’s V2, we had winning ideas for a mobile app development company, a company that connects wine consumers to the winery that produced the bottle they’re buying, and an online networking platform, among others. I can’t wait to find out what new ideas we’ll see this year.
