Hey, we’re going to Italy! The USD European alumni group is having a meet-up in Caserta, and we’re going to join them for some ciao.
Oh, wait, turns out they’re going to Italy…I’m going to the kennel. Well, when I found out that ciao isn’t actually doggie chow, I kind of lost interest anyway.
They’re going to send updates from the alumni gathering and Pompeii and pizza-eating, so I’ll follow them that way. Arrivederci!

The SBI is a program that helps students in non-business majors prepare for the business world. Palomar Medical Center
I went to the hospital last week – in a good way. This is a brand new hospital that is part of the Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, CA, and there aren’t even any patients in it yet. They will be moved there from the present hospital in early August, and it will be a major logistical operation (no pun intended). It’s quiet around our SBA halls now that graduation is over, but that’s a good thing. It means that our students who graduated are starting their new jobs, and those who still have another year in the program are working in their summer internships (we’re grateful to Al Carey and other donors for the SBA Student Internship Fund).

David Pyke, Ph.D., has been dean of the School of Business Administration (SBA) at the University of San Diego since 2008.
Formerly, he was professor of Operations Management, and associate dean at the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College.
He obtained his BA from Haverford College, MBA from Drexel University, and his M.A. and Ph.D. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
