Announcement from Cheryl re: International Leadership Association (ILA) conferences/course

Dear Students:

Some of you have asked about the International Leadership Association (ILA) conferences in the past. I want to tell you two things. One I will be offering the ILA Seminar class next fall 2019. It will be run as a Global Study Course and is located in Ottawa, Canada. Second, I am going to have a session to help students prepare proposals for the Women’s ILA conference that is held in June 2019 – this year it is held at 1440 Multiversity in Santa Cruz. Here is the website for the conference / conference proposals: http://www.ila-net.org/WLC/WLC19-2/CFP.html.

If you take a look at the proposal preparation, you’ll see that there are many categories that the work that each of you do might fit into. The nice thing about this conference is that there are many types of presentations, and there is a place for scholars and practitioners. Plus its a great opportunity to meet others across the country doing work related to women’s issues.

The purpose of the session I am sponsoring is to 1) familiarize you with ILA and the proposal writing process, 2) brainstorm with the group and each other about potential ideas and collaborations, and 3) give each other support (maybe a timeline for peer critiques) on writing and submitting proposals. You do NOT have to have research ready or an idea that is super clear. This is a brainstorming session. If you have any interest – you can just show up.

So here is the information for the event:  Friday Oct. 19 at 4:30 in room MRH 139

It would help in planning if you plan to come to RSVP using this link: Registration Link

I look forward to seeing you there!

Cheryl
