Current Research

Memory

How does the brain handle acquiring, processing, storing, and recalling memories. Studies are primarily at the cellular level. Methods formerly utilized were pharmacological applications. Currently, the use of electrophysiological tools as well as molecular methods are being implemented . The latter, for now, are done with UTSA collaborations.

Bioremediation

Studies in environmental pollution problems. From gross methods of field investigations to laboratory studies in bioremediation. In the lab intermediary metabolic equipment is used to study microbes with potential detoxication of hydrocarbon and heavy metal biotoxins.
